The Benefits of Google+ and Google Authorship

Feb 26, 2014

There are many online tools that can be used to help in your task of improving your online reputation – it’s just matter of knowing about them.  You may already know about Google+, which is a “social networking and identity service” offered by Google.  Considered by many to be the social networking service with arguably the most amount of potential, Google+ is free for anyone to join and one of the most important things about the social platform is that content on Google+ will efficiently gain rank in Google’s search results.  That’s of course a very big bonus for those looking to strengthen their online brand.

But, there’s an added piece to Google+ that can make the platform’s reputation management capability that much more effective – and that’s Google Authorship.  Although, Google Authorship works in tandem with Google+, it’s entirely its own Google product.  Essentially, what Google Authorship does is tie the content you write online, say, for example, in a blog, to your Google+ profile.  In very basic terms, Google Authorship is another way for Google to verify author identity.  The most critical thing to know is that Google Authorship can further improve the ranking of your online content and can add your profile information (photo, byline) to your content as indexed on Google’s search results.

So, read more about Google Authorship here.
